Black Owned Skincare for Dark Spots & Acne

KiKi Carr

Those of us with problematic skin have heard it all. We have heard no dairy, no fried foods, no chocolate etc. and we have tried it all. All of the acne treatments and all of the dietary changes we tried and had absolutely no luck! Because it was BAD advice. Personally, my skin didn’t clear up until I went all natural.

Although I am a licensed Esthetician I cleared my breakouts up before ever going to Esthetician school. I did it topically, without a diet change or going to a doctor. I began using simple ingredients on my skin, and it worked. Let me tell ya, getting rid of blemishes is easy when you use the right stuff.

Skin care products are fun to play in and so luxurious. But when it comes to treating a condition like acne in black skin it’s best to use products that are gentle and mild. Traditional acne treatments are aggressive. They sting and burn and can be more harmful than helpful if not used correctly.

The risk of having a bad outcome from using all natural skincare is minimal. AVO Cosmetics is a safe and healthy option thats super effective. These clean beauty products work as a system to fight stubborn blemishes and reveal beautiful glowing skin. These products are homemade, hand-packed and Black owned.

The Clear Skin Kit treats hyperpigmentation, pimples, acne, dark spots, texture, black heads, and acne scars naturally. It is truly the best way to get clear skin at home. The guess work has been taken out of when and what to use. The Clear Skin Kit makes skincare routines for oily skin and acne prone quick and easy.

This 4 step system leaves skin radiant by keeping the pores clean and combating dark spots while treating and preventing breakouts. Your skin will feel nourished and look more hydrated. Getting clear glowy skin has never been easier. The products are packed with powerful ingredients gentle enough to use everyday and you will start to see results immediately.

Not only will you notice less oil but you will also appear softer and smoother. Acne products tend to be very drying. That is why when healing the skin it is important to add that hydration back in. There is no need to live with acne. Don’t give up just because nothing has worked. It may be time to try an unconventional method such as a holistic treatment.

Clean beauty tends to be less harsh and more beginner friendly. When using AHA’s and BHA’s you kinda gotta know what you’re doing. They are ACIDS! Like in the real life sense, they BURN! That’s why traditional acne products are stingy. They are designed to burn acne off and dry it out.

AVO treats acne by keeping the pores clean. Acne is a bacteria. It can be killed simply by keeping the environment it thrives in clean. This is not as simple as using a face wash. All soaps aren’t effective in cleaning out pores. AVO’s Clarifying Cleanser is anti-microbial, combats oil and deep cleans the skin by detoxifying the pores.

African Black Soap doesn’t contain any synthetic ingredients and is known for its high levels of vitamin E, D, and C. Due to its high fatty acid concentration it is also excellent for moisturize and the anti-bacterial properties prevent infections lessening future break outs.

Cleansing is the first step in any skincare routine for a reason, it is most important. The proper cleanser is the key to getting rid of dark spots and pimples. The steps following cleansing aid in the healing of the skin by calming, soothing, and moisturizing the skin. Skin that is clean and hydrated heals faster and better.

Adding moisture to the skin and locking it in increases product penetration by allowing the product to be on your skin longer. The AVO Rapid Dark Spot Corrector not only seal in moisture, it also acts as a barrier and protective layer for your skin while fading dark spots.

The Clear Skin Kit is beginner friendly and the best option for oily skin types that are acne prone looking to clear skin naturally at home. You won’t have to see a doctor, there won’t be any confusion as to what to use and when and it does not burn like traditional acne treatments.

AVO Cosmetics is the best Black Skin Care for dark spots, acne, and hyperpigmentation. When it comes to Black skin acne treatments all natural is the way to go. The treatments are gentle enough for daily use and potent enough to yield quick results. The Clear Skin Kit will have your skin clear and glowing.

Keep Oily Skin Matte All Day

KiKi Carr

Oily skin is great for looking younger, not so great if you want a matte finish. Without taking the proper prep makeup may start off looking matte but as the day goes on will get greasy looking. Preventing, avoiding and stopping shiny face makeup is a flex. Period.

The best method to keep your face from getting oily throughout the day is to start with a good skin prep. Skin care is always the first line of defense. Although it is not possible to stop oily skin all together a good skin care routine definitely makes a world of a difference.

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my link, at no extra cost to you.

Good makeup always begins and ends with a solid skincare routine. There is no makeup hack that can or will replace a proper skincare regimen. Target has excellent skin care for black skin. These products are extremely affordable and will help control oil all day.

Wash with a Hydrating Cleanser

Oily skin lacks sufficient moisture and over produces oil. It is important to not attempt to constantly strip the skin of excess oil but to add in more moisture. Using a hydrating cleanser like Cerave will help bring balance to the skin. This cleanser is not stripping and leaves the skin feeling light and fresh.

Tone with Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is the best toner for oily skin because it is pore constricting. Oily skin has larger pores. By constricting the opening of the pore less oil can get through to the surface of the skin. Witch hazel is all natural and has been used for centuries in skin care. Thayer’s is purified and will leave the skin visibly smoother.

Moisturize with an Oil Free Moisturizer

Oil is good for oily skin, not all but some. I recommend everyone use a face oil but they are especially helpful for oily skin and acne prone. Obviously using oil when going for the matte look is not the move. The Cerave Cream Moisturizer is perfect for anyone who wants a matte look.

It is not possible to completely stop our skin from producing oil. Constantly stripping the skin of its oil will cause the skin to produce more oil, increasing the chances of a break out. With the proper skin prep it is possible to stay matte throughout the day.

Black Skin Care for Acne

KIKI CARR

Have you ever wondered what are the BEST black skin care products for acne? It’s a fair question because the skin is delicate and most acne treatments tend to be very harsh. They are designed to burn the acne or dry it out. Although that can be bad for any skin color, it is especially harmful for black skin. Black skin has melanin and when injured a dark mark known as hyperpigmentation will remain at the site of injury.

Therefore, the best black skin care products for acne are MOISTURIZING! Products that moisturize and lock in moisture are the best types of products to treat acne. Acne is a condition in which the skin produces an excess of oil. Introducing products enriched with moisture helps to bring balance to the skin, countering the over production of oil.

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my link, at no extra cost to you.

What Is Acne?

Contrary to popular belief acne is not caused by greasy food, dairy, pop, or chocolate. Can those things contribute to the condition? SURE! But those things are certainly not the cause. Acne or P. Acnes is a condition of the skin in which the pores become clogged. Once clogged, bacteria grows causing the surrounding area to become inflamed.

Why Do I Have Acne?

Acne is a state or condition of skin. For Example, a rash is not something that is permanent when properly treated. Like a rash, acne is not permanent. Acne is simply the current state or condition the skin is in. Most likely you have acne because of your skin TYPE! There are 3 genetic skin types: normal, dry, and oily. Majority of people with acne have the oily skin type.

What Skin Care Routine is Best for Me?

A good skin care routine for oily acne prone skin should include an amazing cleanser, a toner, a moisturizer, a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF (for the day) and an oil (for the night). This regimen helped me and it is the regimen I recommend for black skin as a black esthetician.

Does Facial Oils Clog Pores?

KIKI CARR

FACE OILS!!!

With all of the different opinions about face oils I bet you’ve been left wondering does facial oils clog pores? This story is going to debunk a lot of myths and assumptions about applying oil to acne prone skin. Oils act as a protective barrier for the skin. Immediately after applying moisturizing products the environment begins to steal them from your skin. Applying an oil as the last step in your skin care regimen is incredibly beneficial. Face oils are the secret weapon for glowing clear skin.

Facial oils do NOT clog pores. It is logical to assume face oils clog pores. However, they actually do the opposite. Face oils form a barrier for the skin, locking moisture in and keeping debris out. Clogged pores are caused by blockages like dead skin. Unlike obstructions, the skin is able to absorb face oils. Face oils are good for break outs.

Sunday Riley is the facial oil gods! Their face oils are pure and will leave the skin glowing. Sunday Riley’s oils are bountiful with antioxidants, vitamins, and other ingredients that promote healthy skin.

3 Reasons Dark Skin Need Sunscreen Too!

KIKI CARR

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my link, at no extra cost to you.

First thing to know is there’s a difference between sunscreen and sunblock. A sunscreen absorb ultraviolet (UV) rays while a sunblock reflect and prevent UV rays from striking the skin. Blockers are equivalent to wearing a large brimmed hat. Some sunscreens contain sun blocking ingredients. It is important to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and one that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. These types of sunscreens are considered broad spectrum.

If you don’t currently have a broad spectrum sunscreen in your skin care regimen here are 3 reasons to start using one now.

1.) Pre-mature Aging

Sun exposure is the number one cause of pre-mature aging. Studies show that 90% of wrinkles are caused by the sun while only 10% are attributed to aging.

2.) Sun Burns

Prolonged exposure to the sun without protection can cause the skin to burn and peel.

2.) Skin Cancer

Sun exposure is the number one cause of skin cancer. Over 80% of skin cancers are caused by over exposure to UV rays.

Black Girl Sunscreen was formulated for every day use and can be incorporated into your normal skincare routine. It fights against sun damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and protects your skin from harmful UVA & UVB rays. The best part is this sunscreen is moisturizing and won’t leave a white cast.

As with all cosmetic products it is important to thoroughly cleanse the skin at night. Going to bed without washing the day away can present new and troublesome problems within the skin. Sunscreens are necessary for every skin type and regimen. Everyone should protect their skin from harmful UV rays.
